10 Tips to Help you Grow Strong and Beautiful Nails

Needless to say, we love long and beautiful nails. But there’s something about these glamourous beauties. That’s right! It’s not easy to maintain them. Since it’s a very common problem, we have put together some tips that will help you grow strong and beautiful nails that you can flaunt anytime you like.

You are what you eat
We’re sure you’ve heard it before in the context of muscles and body fat. But food affects the health of your nails also. Eating green veggies, lots of it and especially spinach, improves the health of your nails. Vitamin B9 or folic acid present in the veggies is great for the strength of nails and their growth. Protein is also very important in your diet. Try to include these in your meal daily and your nails will seem to thank you for that.

Extra Calcium in Egg Shells
You may already know about the extra calcium in eggshells but did you know that your nails can benefit from it? That's true. All you have to do is, clean the eggshells and grind them. Make a paste and apply it to your nails. Let it stay there for some time. Do this often and you will begin to notice healthy growth of your nails.

Say No to Nail Polish Remover with Acetone
While acetone helps remove nail polish really fast, it's not without a harmful effect on the nails. The chemical leaves the nails weak and dry which may lead to splitting or peeling of nails.

Wash hands and Reduce Hand Sanitizer
The alcohol in sanitizers is another one that dries the nails and makes them brittle. So avoid using sanitizer too often and instead try washing hands. If you have to apply sanitizer, then moisturize your hands to reduce the effect.

Consume Enough Water
Water is a must not just for our health but also for the health of our nails. Stay hydrated to give enough moisture to your nails. They will not become brittle or break easily.

Avoid Soaking Hands in Water
The good for health water can harm your nails if you indulge in activities that keep your hands wet. The reason is simple - when hands are exposed to water for longer, they're dehydrated and nails also lose moisture. So next time you're going to do dishes wear gloves or put some moisturizer on your hands.

Get Garlic for Nails
Selenium present in garlic is good for the health of your nails. It may seem somewhat messy but if you rub some garlic against your nails, your nail growth will improve. Garlic oil is another option, which can be used as a nail mask.

Let Honey Guard Against Bacteria
Honey is good to nourish your nails and protect them against bacterial growth. Take two teaspoons of honey and mix a few drops of lemon in it to create a nail mask. Use it to massage your hands and nails. Wash it off properly after 15 minutes or so.

Massage with Coconut Oil
Before going to sleep, warm some coconut oil and massage your hands and nails. Vitamin E and antioxidants in coconut oil improve nail strength and growth. SO you start seeing the difference very soon.

Reduce Acrylic Manicures
They have grown in popularity but they're not good for your nails and must be reduced. Your nails start weakening due to the peeling caused by gel or acrylic manicures. It would help if you spaced out your manicures and gave some extra breather to your nails.
